Mr. Gay is a Vice President and the Director of Compliance at EIG. Immediately prior to joining EIG in 2024, Mr. Gay was Chief Compliance Officer & Regulatory Counsel at AngelList, a leading financial technology company in the private funds space.  At AngelList, he led the company’s global regulatory compliance efforts.  Prior to joining AngelList, he was a senior member of the Legal & Compliance team at the Carlyle Group.  At Carlyle, he focused on a broad spectrum of domestic and international legal and regulatory matters and served as the Chief Compliance Officer of Carlyle’s registered limited purpose broker-dealer entity.  Mr. Gay began his legal career as a corporate and securities associate at Covington & Burling LLP.  At Covington, Mr. Gay advised registered and unregistered investment advisers, including private equity firms and venture capital firms, on various status questions and ongoing compliance matters.  Mr. Gay received his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. from Yale University.  He holds FINRA Series 7, 24, and 63 licenses.
